With the idea of a still-life, I am positioning this work between storytelling and collectable arrangements. These drawings are using line, the painted mark and image as three signifiers. But unlike a Sam Bass' rendering of a Nascar driver, Talledaga Motor Speedway and the driver's spirit animal, these drawings only allude to the grouping. The objects are of no consequence and often the only remnant is the shadow or dent. These groupings are only placeholders. They become more examples of how to paint a better bird.
