The work is rooted in transience, customized paint schemes, Dutch still life painting, country music and an overall sense of awkwardness. The surface becomes marred in layers of paint and mistakes, with each layer the surface reverts back to something flawed. This is the goal of the work, create an object that is adored by sub-culture and then recklessly driven to the tune of my own awkwardness.
I work with ephemeral materials like cardboard and construction paper and more industrial ones like aluminum polymers, automotive paint, and bondo. I represent form and strive to skim across ideas of Beauty whose sublimation is historically positioned with big painting. I use hearsay and conjecture to create work that does not have to be mired in a conceptually grounded history.
